HISTORY
The Asia Pacific Financial Services Association (APFinSA),
formerly known as Asia Pacific Life Insurance Council (APLIC),
was formed in September 1991, when the first APLIC Congress
was held in Singapore, where it was attended by the Presidents
of the various life insurance associations in the Asia Pacific
region. The Congress, with the theme “Beyond the Crossroads”,
was attended by over 5,000 life insurance agents and managers
from the various APLIC countries. Due to its success, the Council
decided to conduct a Congress every two years.
FRAMEWORK
APFinSA is an organizational framework, consisting 11 member
countries of Australia,
Hong Kong, India, Japan, Macau, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines,
Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand.
OBJECTIVES
APFinSA aim s to
- To promote professional fraternities among life insurance
sales professionals, encourage education standards, and exchange
of sales/technical ideas and practices in the Asia Pacific
Region.
- To encourage the enhancement of education and professional
standards of life insurance sales personnel in the Asia Pacific
Region.
- To promote cooperation and exchange of sales, business
and technical ideas and practices among members of the life
insurance sales profession.
- To share legislative, social, economic an industry changes
affecting the Life
Insurance Industry among the member countries of APFinSA.
- To assist the life insurance intermediary representative
bodies of member countries of APFinSA to represent and promote
the interests of life insurance and financial services intermediaries
and their profession within their own countries and throughout
the Asia Pacific Region.
- To assist the member countries of APFinSA in informing
the public in their respective countries and throughout the
Asia Pacific Region of the benefits of life insurance and
financial services products.
- To encourage the member countries of APFinSA to prescribe
for their individual
members and to maintain in the industry high standard of ethical
conduct.

CHAIRMA N’S MESSAGE
It is my privilege and honour to extend my heartiest congratulations
to insurance and financial practitioners association of taiwan
to be the host of the 9th APLIC Congress.
The 8th APLIC Congress held last month impressed me a lot
as insurance elites from all around the world created the mpst
inspiring and touching atmosphere. Insurance industry is ever
changing and sharing among veterans can always fill us with
energies and new insights. As the Chairman of Asia Pacific Financial
Services Association, I look forward to a refreshing and fruitful
Congress in 2007.
