DO I GET A DISCOUNT ON MY CAR POLICY IF I INSTALL AN
ANTI-THEFT DEVICE IN MY CAR?
Yes, you do, because an anti-theft device lowers the risk of
theft. The discount: 2.5 percent of the ‘own damage’ premium
up to a maximum of Rs.500. “Own damage’ is the cover over and
above the mandatory third-party cover, which entitles you to
claim compen-sation if your car is stolen or damaged.
To get the discount, the anti-theft device must be one approved
by the Automobile Research Association of India (ARAI) and its
installation must be certified by the ARAI or by any of the
regional automobile associations. The dealer from whom you buy
the anti-theft device should be able to assist in the certification
process.
